One of the main Ukrainian attractions is the Carpathian Mountains.
The Carpathians are located on the territory of Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia and, partially, Austria. One of the popular meanings of the name “Carpathians” is “mountains of the Carps” (according to the Roman chronicles of the 1 century A.D. Carps were a tribe, related to Albanians, who lived on the territory of the mountains in the ancient days).

The Carpathians are world known for their winter resorts, which provide you with necessary places, equipment and instructors to try anything from skiing to snowboarding.

But winter is not the only popular season. The mountains revel in beauty all year long. During the warm time of the year you can visit many hotels and resorts, which present various health care programs. The mountains are also a unique blend of history and culture of different peoples, the most distinct of all being Gutsuls (an ancient ethnic group), who have kept many of their ancient traditions and willingly share their heritage with the visitors.
